Dr. Capps is a member of the American, Southern, and Georgia Associations of Orthodontists, and the American Dental Association and its state and local affiliates.
Dr. Capps attended Emory University for his college and dental school. After three years in the U.S. Navy he returned to Emory for orthodontic studies. He taught at Emory for three years and has been in private practice since that time.
Dr. Capps is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a distinction earned by fewer than twenty-five percent of orthodontists. Dr. Capps recently voluntarily recertified with the American Board to confirm that his skills still meet the high standard of the board.
Dr. Capps has been president of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics, the Georgia Academy of Dental Practice, the Georgia Association of Orthodontists, and the Emory Orthodontic Alumni Association. Dr. Capps was chairman of the Board of Deacons of the Second-Ponce De Leon Baptist Church in Atlanta. He and his wife, Catherine, currently teach a Sunday School class for young married adults at The Chapel at Big Canoe. Dr. Capps is active in the Rotary Club of East Cobb and a past president of Rotary.
He and Catherine have two daughters, both married, one in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the other in Cody Wyoming. They have four grandsons.
